Every once in a while I do something completely crazy just to do something new and different. I like to try out new things and I'm especially drawn to unique things. I've previously written that one of the things I will be doing for my birthday is flying to Madrid so that I can fly on LATAM, a South American carrier operating a route from Santiago, Chile to Madrid, Spain connecting on to Frankfurt, Germany. They often offer business class deals for quite cheap and so I've planned to give that flight a try.
Originally I was just going to do a Amsterdam - Madrid - Frankfurt - Amsterdam routing but then I saw a trip report from someone on flyertalk who discussed taking Iberia's A340-600 from London Heathrow to Madrid and so that got my wheels turning and I've now decided that I need to give that a try. Carriers in the USA do not operate the A340 and very few operators actually operate the -600 variant, these days. Of all the carriers out there there are only a few major airliners (Etihad, Iberia, Lufthansa, Mahan Airlines, Qatar, South African, & Virgin Atlantic Airways). So - now I will fly back to Madrid from Frankfurt, probably on the return segment even and then on the following day I will plan to fly to London's Heathrow onboard the A346 with Iberia.
Then I will spend one more night in London, probably near to Heathrow as I have booked my flight back to Amsterdam with KLM. So this trip I have planned:
