One of the most beautiful areas of the world that I have had the pleasure of visiting is Patagonia. A vast wilderness located at the far reaches of the earth, in southern Chile and Argentina. The highlight of the area, in my opinion, is spending time hiking through Torres del Paine National Park.

Located just a short distance from the city of Cairo lies one of the most magnificent wonders of the ancient world: The Great Pyramids. Pictured here is Khafre's pyramid, the only pyramid at Giza still having some of the original casing stones along the outside. Built as a tomb for the Fourth-Dynasty pharaoh, Khafre (Chefren), who ruled from around 2558 to 2532 BC, is the second tallest and second largest of the ancient pyramids.

Built along the mighty Urubamba River, deep in the Andes Mountains, lies one of the most spectacular ruins built by the Inca people. The ruins of Wiñay Wayna, known as "Forever Young" in the Quechua language, were lost to the world until 1940 when they were "rediscovered" by the Wenner Gren Scientific Expedition to Hispanic America. Paul Fejos and his team documented a number of sites on or near the trail that leads to Machu Picchu (known as the Inca Trail). Sadly, not much is known about what the purpose of the ruins are. However, they are shaped by the…

There is nothing more exciting than being on a safari. You're out in a vehicle, tracking animals. This cheetah was seen on my second day in the central Serengeti. It was an absolute wonderful time, seeing her not long after feeding on her kill.

The more I traveled the world, the less I wanted to visit Australia. I am drawn mostly to the developing world. But in 2012 a friend of mine from Sydney finally convinced me to come for a visit. For me, no visit to Australia would have been completed without a visit to Uluru or Ayers Rock. A giant monolith, found in the "Red Center" of Australia, is a sacred place for the Aboriginal people. According to the Aṉangu, traditional landowners of Uluru: The world was once a featureless place. None of the places we know existed until creator beings, in…

POTD: Myanmar: Dattawgyaik Waterfall

Located halfway between Mandalay and the city of Pyin Oo Lwin sits one of the most beautiful waterfalls, Dattawgyaik. The trip to Dattawgyaik starts with a 30 minute car ride from Pyin oo Lwin, followed by a 45 to 50 minute hike down a steep, curved road in extremely high temperatures. Once you're at the bottom of the "canyon" you gaze upon the waterfalls. Set idyllically amongst the site is a buddhist shrine. I hadn't thought too much about the trek to the waterfalls until it was time to come back, realizing that now I had to go up, up,…
